The power of redemption and saving grace through the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ is a miracle we are seeing here in Chandler, Arizona. From our regional “missions rally,” to culture-based evangelistic efforts, water baptisms, revival meetings and outreaches have come a significant increase in conversions and growth within the church.
Our annual missions rally brought together hundreds of couples and individuals throughout the local area to focus on world evangelism and the equipping of men and women for an international ministry. A pulpit ministry at the rally is reserved for those that have served in the mission fields. The testimony of a life sacrificed to serve in the nations through these men inspired us all to consider the cost others before us have paid to see a successful ministry established internationally. In ministry were Pastors Mark Aulson, Greg Mitchell, Steve Bowman, Tom Payne and Joe Campbell.
Every few months we are baptizing new believers, which typically occurs for us on a Sunday evening service. This past February we baptized and heard the testimonies of more than 40 people. There is nothing like hearing the testimony of a new believer during a baptism service!
Revivals with Evangelist Roman Gutierrez and Pastor Alvin Smith were foundational for the church. The revival and Twice Dead play with Roman Gutierrez drew more than 100 visitors and dozens of conversions. The sincere nature of our brother’s testimony and ministry had both young and old alike riveted to their seats.
Alvin Smith preached with his usual smile and depth of preaching ministry that reaches far inside a person and challenges to new levels of service. Visitors came out every service to witness the moving of the Holy Spirit and gift ministry and many were converted. Our brother moved in the word of knowledge with multiple examples of spot-on words that no one knew except the individuals themselves.
Culture-based evangelism is very fruitful for us with our annual Native American Day and Cinco de Mayo celebrations drawing hundreds of visitors and many conversions to Christ. Pastor Artie Aragon and the Chinle, Arizona choir ministered to our congregation with approximately 40 Native American first-time visitors in attendance. New families are still coming from this and our outreaches to Sacaton, Arizona. The Cinco de Mayo event in the park had four bands, free food and more than 120 visitors with 17 first-time decisions for Christ.
