Music Opens a Door for the Gospel in Chandler — Summer 2008

We participate in an annual parade and festivities hosted by the City of Chandler called the “Ostrich Festival.” It is one of our most significant outreaches as a church, especially since the city routinely wonders what The Door Christian Center will be doing each year. This year our float focused on how God has been removed from America, with hundreds marching behind the float with amplified preachers perched atop what was built to look like the Supreme Court.

We had such favor and dominion to witness, testify and preach that even the local police officials were moved to the point where they asked us to set-up and “do-whatwe-do” at the amusement park area entrance later that evening, all with police permission and protection! Immediately following the parade we set-up for our “Family Fun Day” with game booths, live music and free food. Many visitors from the parade came to visit and souls were saved and touched.

Always a fruitful time is our “themed outreach” ministries, where we focus on a specific cultural event often timed with local or national holidays. One of the most fruitful for us is our Native American week. For the past couple of years we have been privileged to have Pastor Aragon and the Chinle, Arizona choir and youth outreach come and minister. The following week, we participated in a Native American parade in the nearby town of Sacaton, Arizona. We were surprised to see a couple thousand people lining the streets as we used the same themed float from our Ostrich Festival to preach and witness with absolute liberty.

Praise God for all that He is doing in the Spanish ministry. Our Spanish speaking ministry in Chandler is under the direction of Pastor Gil Cota. In the last few months, we have seen 45 people converted and 25 of those locked in and serving God. One excellent testimony is of a couple that was living together for three years, came to one our services and was so convicted that after three days of being saved they made a decision to get married and live right for God! In March Pastor Gil Cota and two other brothers from the Spanish ministry went to the Dominican Republic for a Rally where God healed and saved many people. Upon returning to Chandler the testimonies of these men and Pastor Cota brought a fresh excitement to the entire Chandler congregation.

Our Cinco de Mayo outreach had 280 in attendance, 50 of whom were visitors with 16 responding for salvation. This celebration was immediately followed with a revival by the leader of Mexico, Pastor Jose Luis Gaxiola. Many were delivered and one young man even brought in his television and broke it to the delight of those in attendance.

Once again, we could not do what we do here in Chandler, if not for the guidance, example ship and obedient sacrifices of the Prescott congregation, we thank you!
