16 Decisions for Christ in Chandler

Humility, faithfulness and longevity of purpose have propelled God’s people in Chandler to pray and fast on their own accord for the needs of the congregation and beyond.

Each year in the Phoenix area we host the Men’s Rally, where 1300+ men from various neighboring states and as far away as Hawaii, gather in a local high school auditorium to hear four services geared at training men to be effective in every facet of life.

The Christmas season saw an open door that allowed our choir to perform in the largest mall in our area. This was not only a blessing to the ministry but gave us the opportunity to share Christ to a large audience where decisions were made. Theatrical presentations during the holidays have always been an effective witness and “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” was no exception! Running States two nights, we saw more than 60 visitors with 16 decisions for Christ.

A wave of church kids getting saved and then rising up, has us all thrilled at the possibilities of an entirely new generation of youth with an edge and understanding (from birth) hitting the ground running for Christ. Please pray for our youth as many are at important places in life. As our congregation presses through three decades of service in our local community, we see people lost over the Smith revival years through a variety of bad decisions. A great encouragement has been the return of many backsliders, most of whom share the same thought as they testify to the young and old alike saying, “please do not go down the path of life I chose, as I wasted many years…” Thank God for his mercy, redemption and faithfulness to draw men and women back into a place of relationship once again.

January brought forth yet another large New Believers Class graduation. These classes have been a proven force in helping solidify believers in the doctrine and faith here in Chandler. Thirty-six were baptized in water this past January. Water baptisms are always a much anticipated service as we cry and laugh together with our converts as they share testimonies (some very animated) to a packed house of believers and family members.

In February, Pastor Alvin Smith, who is no stranger to us here, brought his unique revival ministry to Chandler. He is always very well received and more importantly very effective at reaching both the church and those that don’t know Christ. Brother Smith’s messages inspired hope and drove us all to the altar to find where God lives for our lives as individuals and as a church. It was there at the altar where God met with us in a time of humility that had all in awe at His presence.
