Hope Reaches Behind Prison Walls in Edmonton

Nearly every chair full in Delft h waste time in bringing our music scene outdoors this past year.

Our Friday night music scenes on our front porch are a summer staple. We are using this time to witness and testify about changed lives and the hope we have in Jesus. People from all backgrounds can come to get a hot dog and listen to some great live music. This is a great tool to reach our neighbourhood. Young people are taking this opportunity to pray with people where they are at and see souls saved.

Friday’s Fire, our indoor concert scene, happens the last Friday of each month. Last month a man was given a flyer from an acquaintance. When he came to Fridays Fire he remembered Pastor Les from the Fort. At this time he was going through some tough times in life, but since has made the decision to follow Jesus and has faithfully been coming to church with his family.

Our youth have started a band and are a vital part of the music scene. ertise tent healing crusade They initiated a basketball tourney at a local park to reach other youth. They are keen to respond to what their generation is going through. We took to the streets during K-days to healing crusade hand out flyers for Pastor Garett King. Many people we talk to are afraid for their future because of the number of overdoses that happen to their friends. On August 2 to 5, 2018, Pastor King conducted a powerful four-day revival. The compelling messages brought conviction and inspiration to those who attended.

After labouring at the Fort Saskatchewan jail for 14 years, some of the people we ministered to are coming in after two to three years. Some refer their family and friends to come and check us out. We are praying for the guards and wardens who also give us favor, to hear the Gospel. Two ladies from the fort jail have come in and one from the men’s in the past months.

We invited the neighbourhood to our Open House and International Night in the middle of August. A popular mascot was an added attraction. Families brought their children to see the mascot and stayed to hear the Gospel. We opened up our church to everyone so they could see what we were all about.

Our church members dressed in their cultural clothing and fellowshipped with the 25-plus visitors that arrived. All were treated to a variety of foods from the various countries of the world. Songs in different languages were rendered to the delight of the audience. There were testimonies on God’s faithfulness, from around the globe and video presentations from Vietnam to encourage our church to reach the nations.

When the altar call was given many heard the truth. Four individuals openly accepted Jesus as their Lord and Saviour and were prayed with at the altar.

Indeed, God has been working tremendously in our congregation. Please pray for Edmonton North as we pray for you.
