Hope Takes to the Streets of San Benito

We immediately began working on readying our building that we acquired in the heart of the red light district of San Benito. In the process we began showing weekly movies along with making key contacts throughout the area.

Our regular outreaches and movies have been very fruitful as we have had visitors every week. Although our building was essentially a construction zone we decided to start having regular services beginning in May. In the midst of construction materials and dust God began to move and help us right out of the gate. Several families of the men I had working with me on the building have gotten saved and now attend church faithfully.

We had our first baptism in May and baptized eight precious souls, including a couple, Reyes and Anna, who have decided to get it right and will be getting married after 15 years of shacking up.

In May we were able to bring 16 people to the Central American Rally in Guatemala City 13 hours through the jungle. This was a great experience for our young church as all the people had never been to the city. Our church had the opportunity to see the Fellowship and what they’re now part of. The Fellowship vision was imparted and captured in their hearts.

In August, we had our grand opening. Churches from Guatemala City, Mixco, and Coban came out to help us outreach and impact the city for Jesus. A total of 52 people made the trek through the jungle. We street preached, hit the streets with live dramas then finished off with a One80 night scene.

Our Central American leader Pastor Otoniel Rodríguez came and preached our grand opening service. We were blessed with a timely word challenging the church with the Fellowship vision and the great commission to reach the world and our city for Jesus.

Our church is stirred for Jesus and God has been opening many doors, blessing us tremendously.

We have been making many key contacts. One in particular that completely blew our minds came in the form of a medical missionary team. It is amazing what God can do when we say “Yes” to the calling of God on our lives.

Recently, a medical missionary team needed help translating to serve our community. We agreed to help and served with them a couple of days as translators. During the course of the two days we met several people on their team who were blown away that there are still people who are willing to leave all the comforts of the USA, come to a third world nation to live and do the will of God. They asked us if they could bless us and of course we said Yes! They gave us a love offering for helping a couple days with their mission. We never expected what happened next.

One member of the team named Micheal completely blew our minds when he offered to buy us a brand new 15 passenger van and AC’s for our church. I thought I was dreaming and quickly remembered the many testimonies of my Pastor. How Pastor Campbell testifies of how God told him, “I will cause men to put money in your hands!”

Micheal sent us a check for the total amount for a new van and air conditioning for our building. The check was deposited and when it cleared the dream quickly became a reality. We will be purchasing our new 15 passenger van and installing new air conditioners this month (November).

Jesus Christ is on the throne and very much alive in San Benito Peten Guatemala!
