20 Believers Baptized in Nairobi

Most of you are aware we had very bad post election violence due to disputed election results. More than 1000 people lost their lives and 350,000 were left either displaced from their homes or totally homeless.

This was a very discouraging and trying time for us as we saw the country sinking into civil war each day. However I believe because of the many prayers that people prayed for us from all over the world God intervened and the leaders agreed on a Coalition Government. Right now as I write this report there is relative peace in the country and most of the people who were staying in camps have been able to go back to their homes. One of our pastors lost all his property and also the church which was about nine years old was closed down.

In spite of all these happenings we are still contending for the vision and God’s move not only in Nairobi but Kenya and East Africa as a whole.

Immediately as we had some peace we went back to the streets, doing outreaches, showing movies and having crusades. People were very apathetic and non-responsive at first but in the process of time they have opened up and are now responding to the gospel.

During Easter we gathered courage and did a procession which was a big step of faith. God honored this as we had total liberty and no violence in the three days that we did the procession. Hundreds of people came to church to watch our drama entitled “The Cross Or Religion?” Every day we saw an increase in attendance and by Sunday night there were 815 people in the church! In all the three days we saw around 360 people praying for salvation. Immediately after Easter in the beginning of April, we went to do a grand opening of a new work we launched out into Mombasa where we lost a leadership church in the Year 2000 Rebellion. The devil opposed this launch in a big way as we sent out the couple in November but as we were planning to go and do the opening, we had elections and the violence that followed. This couple could do nothing for three months in the city but just prayed and waited on God. However, doors opened and they got a hall and we were able to take an impact team there to do door-to-door outreaches and crusades for five days. God honored us in a big way as we had total dominion and favor.

By the end of the crusade we had over 200 people praying for salvation and around 15 getting healed. One very old woman of over 80 years was having pains all over her body. After we prayed for her she was totally pain free. This miracle amazed her so much that all she could do was just to whistle because of lack of words to explain what had happened to her body! In the opening service of this new work, they had 28 people in the Sunday morning service. Jesus Christ is risen from the dead indeed!

We are now seeing God restoring what we lost in the first three months of the year as many new people are coming to church and many converts are getting grounded in church. Last month we rejoiced as we baptized 20 new converts.
