Eden Park Celebrates 20 Years of Faithfulness

Our church has been consistently keeping our hands to the plow with our ongoing outreaches in the surrounding areas with door-to-door and open market place evangelizing the unsaved. We’ve continued also with our youth focused concerts to win precious souls to Christ. The Lord of the harvest has been faithfully honoring the tireless labors of our church by bringing a steady flow of visitors in our services and from these the Lord is saving and giving us fruit that remains.

We’ve been sending invasion teams on a consistent basis to help our daughter churches and sister churches by linking our hearts and hands with them to see the work of God going forth in their cities.

We started with sending a team in October to one of our daughter churches in Sebokeng, continuing with Thokoza, Rosettenville, Ennerdale pioneered back then by our pastor Shawn and sister Cheryl. The investment continued with invasion teams to Pretoria Sunnyside, Northcliff, White City in Soweto.

Not only have our impact teams been on the move investing in others but also our pastor has been steadfastly on the move. He ministered several revivals beyond the borders of the country in the nation of Botswana and in the local area.

While our pastor was away the saints have also been blessed and refreshed with the ministry of pastors who came to preach timely messages leaving the church refreshed. Pastors Whalied Ling, Leebon Britoe, Francis Muntumosi, Riaan Botha, Kevin Alcaster have been amongst those who have come ministering very timely and in-season words to our church.

As we were winding down the past year, we had the leader of our entire Southern Africa churches, Pastor Ron Banet, bringing the house down mid-November with four Holy Ghost ignited services.We saw lives touched, salvations, many being prayed for and filled with the Holy Ghost, and notable words of knowledge being given to some of the saints. These included one first-time visitor who had gotten saved the same evening and received a word of knowledge voicing God’s desire to set him totally free from the demonic assaults he’d been experiencing prior.

We also saw our youth come back from the annual Young Lions camp in December transformed and sharing testimonies of how they got challenged to step up and they have done so by getting plugged into the local church ministries.

We closed the year with a Jesus people wedding with a couple who boldly and persistendly fought against a host of obstacles ranging from countless job losses, financial hardships, multiple trips to the Embassy and Home Affairs and family pressures. The Lord honored their unwavering faith by granting them all manner of breakthroughs that saw family members coming as far as the nation of Lesotho for their wedding despite the couple refusing to succumb to the cultural beliefs of paying “lobola.” Their stand stirred many single men and women in our church, and their example will serve as a blueprint and an encouragement to trust God even when all odds seems stacked against us. The highlight this year in February was our annual Harvester’s Homecoming. It was also our church’s 20th anniversary celebration as we reflected back since our beloved founder and pioneer of the Eden Park church, Pastor Robert Polaco, his wife sister Jacque and their three daughters came to Eden Park and saw the church birthed from a small group of youngsters, and a few elderly couples. All we could say as we reflected back is “look what the Lord has done.”

Our church hosted pastor Hector Ortiz and his wife sister Nicole from Mitchell’s Plain, Cape Town. He was the guest speaker in our Harvester’s homecoming themed “Finishing well.”

We had all of our daughter churches come with three of our pastors who are sons birthed in our church ministry. 25 Along with Pastor Ortiz they preached stirring, challenging yet edifying and timely messages.

The conclusion service of the Harvester’s and 20th anniversary wrapped up with testimonies coming from many of those who are the first fruits and have been here since day one.
