A Season of Revival Renews Corvallis

An older couple in our church was inspired by our street corner outreaches, “signs and wonders.” Back in September they went out on their own outreach, waving and smiling and holding signs. A middle aged man named Darrell saw them, pulled over, walked up and stuck hundreds of dollars’ worth of drugs into their hands saying, “I need to get rid of these and get my heart right with God!” They promptly prayed for him and gave him a flyer for our church here in Corvallis.

On his way back to Beaverton where he lives, Darrell received a message that his mother back in Georgia had died. Grief-stricken, he pulled over at a rest stop, where somehow his wallet was stolen along with the flyer for our church.

Five months later, a young disciple named Nathanael from our baby church in Beaverton was stirred by a powerful Monday evening Men’s Discipleship on personal evangelism preached by John McCarthy.

Tuesday after work Nathanael set out on his own to evangelize in a local park. The very first person he spoke to was this same man, Darrell! Corvallis and Beaverton are about 85 miles apart!

Nathanael prayed for Darrell, handed him a flyer, and it suddenly dawned on Darrell: this is the same church name from the lost flyer. Stunned by the “coincidence,” Darrell attended service Wednesday and answered the altar call for salvation. He hasn’t missed a service since and is being radically transformed by the power of Jesus! Both churches have been stirred by this incredible story and are experiencing a renewed zeal for evangelism.

We’ve held youth rallies with teenagers and young adults from across the state attending, reminiscent of the Jesus People Movement, had great revivals with Peter Ajala, Donnell Butler and JW Ballinger. We have sent impact teams all over the NW. We’re seeing disciples rising to the challenge of leading outreaches and preaching in our services. And, we have been so excited to watch our baby church in Beaverton thriving! We are really hoping to launch another baby church in the near future.

God is doing a new thing here in the Great Northwest!
