A New Church Home Opens in Tucson — Summer 2021

The people here have always been engaged in the vision for a new building, but now that we see the structure beginning to rise, it has brought a whole new level of anticipation and expectancy in our congregation. The plan is for the building to be open by our November 1-5 Conference in 2021.

Along with that we are also experiencing the spiritual warfare that goes along with any anticipated breakthrough in the things of God. We do covet your prayers through this season.

The beginning of 2021 started off with Pastor Warner launching our New Year’s theme with several messages on “Contending For The Faith,” from the book of Jude. It has been such a refreshing and challenging series to return to the foundations of our faith and let God challenge us as we live in a world where that faith is being tested. We can sense that God is setting a spiritual tone for us this year through these messages.

As we are entering the summer outreach season, we are already experiencing an uptick in response to our Music Nights and outreaches. During a recent outreach in our church parking lot, we had live music and free Sonoran style hot dogs. We saw a great turnout with many visitors and five people saved. We have also re-tooled our Saturday Music Nights with a different format of music, interviews and sketches that have brought a freshness to that outreach.

Most of us know that the recent pandemic has not been a good thing for the church with isolation, sickness, fear, etc. but - “we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” One of the things the pandemic forced us to do was to focus on our online presence by investing in it as a medium to minister to our congregation, and also to use it as an outreach tool.

We have received online convert cards from all over the world, and we have even been able to direct some of these to our nearby Fellowship churches.

Along with the online services, Pastor Warner has been doing a Podcast dealing with “Soul Care,” and these have been a valuable resource for many struggling through the issues related to the pandemic and even issues that go beyond that. In the past year he has interviewed many of the leaders of our Fellowship including Pastors Greg Mitchell, Joe Campbell, John Gooding, Sergei Golubev, Stacy Dillard, Mike Webb and others who have ministered in different fields of struggles including addictions, mental health, and many more topics. Another area of ministry we have initiated is our MOPS (mothers of pre-school children) group. This is a ministry to Moms in church, and an outreach to those outside the church who need help and connection to other moms.

The initial launch of this ministry saw 36 moms attend (plus a whole bunch of kids). The focus is to strengthen moms in their faith in Christ, minister to their children while they are there, and to also reach other moms and families that do not know Jesus. This ministry has been very fruitful and showing great potential for blossoming in the future.

As time goes on and we continue to see the perilousness of the Last Days coming into view, we are even more appreciative of our decades long connection to our brethren in the Fellowship. Trials seem to deepen these ties. We are grateful for all of those in our fellowship that we labor alongside with, and especially grateful for Pastor Greg Mitchell and the Prescott Church for their unwavering support for all of us.

I was thinking of the words of Paul, when he spoke to the church in Thessalonica, 1 Thess. 2:19,20 “For what is our hope, or joy, or crown of rejoicing? Is it not even you in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ at His coming? For you are our glory and joy.”

All of us are a little closer to the return of Jesus, and we are looking forward to rejoicing in Heaven together when that happens, until then, we will be praying for all of you.
