Music Opens a Door for the Gospel in San Antonio

First, we thank God for what He is doing in our midst by giving us grace to do His work. Our concert scenes at the Backstage have been tremendous every Saturday night as visitors fill up chairs from outreaches on the streets. There are souls being saved and touched through the simplicity of the gospel as disciples are rising up to preach God’s Word.

In the beginning of the year we had a funeral for our dear brother Alec Lechuga, who passed away due to cancer. He’s survived by his wife Mary Grace Lechugua. They both had come into the church desiring a new start in life. Their conversion had a lasting legacy on friends and family as they married in church. Our brother’s testimony is powerful because in this life he thought he had made very little impact, but in reality God touched lives through him. The viewing for Alec was held at the church, and more than 750 people showed up that knew him - relatives, classmates, teachers, employees and doctors. The service began with worship and testimonies of how Alec’s life touched their lives. At the closing of the service Pastor Rubi pulled an altar call and plenty of people lifted their hands for salvation. Precious in the sight of the Lord, is the death of His saints.

Pastor Gooding came in March for a revival and brought timely messages ‘Every year we stand in the midst of all this misery and debauchery and preach Jesus.’ for the congregation. Following the revival pastor Greg Mitchell preached a powerful men’s discipleship class on the fellowship vision that inspired men to be used of God!

San Antonio is largely Catholic and many people are dedicated during their lent season to honor the Lord, but they soon forget about Him for Fiesta and to party hearty. Every year we stand in the midst of all this misery and debauchery, right in the center of the market and preach Jesus!

The city didn’t expect to see a bloody Jesus carrying the cross with Roman soldiers wiping him and demons taunting him as one on looker shouted, “I thought lent was over.” There we presented the gospel with drama and music with Evangelist Ernie Toppin and a countless number of souls were saved! From Fiesta to revival, Brother Toppin did a great job and God powerfully moved in healings and Salvation.
