Revival with Alvin Smith Refreshes McAllen

These past few months have been very fruitful. Since our last report, we have had a series of events. On March 9, we held our annual South Texas Believers Bootcamp run/walk 5K at Dolittle Park. It was a great turn out as we had many church members come to participate and support the event. This year we also had an Easter Egg Hunt hosted by our Game Changers Ministry. They headed over to Alvarez Elementary on April 6 for their fourth annual Easter egg hunt.

This event began with Alex Almanza preaching the word of God and telling people the reason why we celebrate Easter. While he was preaching, the rest of the members began to hide the eggs for the kids.

During the altar call, five families received Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. After the service, all the kids lined up anxiously with their Easter baskets.

Once all the eggs were picked up, all the families got in line to receive their very own Easter basket filled with goodies and a picture with Captain Courage.

We also had our Choose to Change ministry car wash at Oil Can Harry’s on April 13. They hosted this event to raise money to build a guy’s home. This car wash was a success as soon as it began. Car after car kept coming in.

The men washed and dried the vehicles and the women would give the visitor a number and pick up any donations after their vehicles were done. At the end of the event, they were able to raise $1,000 for the guy’s home.

We are also very excited to report that the construction of our building has been going quickly. The layout and the walls of the building have gone up and men of the church have gone to the land to help cut the weeds and clean up the area.

On April 28, we had a revival with Pastor Alvin Smith, from Tucson, Arizona.

There was an outstanding presence of God as Pastor Smith preached. Every service was amazing, and each altar call had several people raise their hand to receive Christ into their hearts. Having Pastor Smith was a major blessing.

Lastly, we would like to report that our teenagers showed the community that they are grateful for our firefighters by visiting them. On May 4 Breakaway teens went to Fire Station Three for Firefighter Appreciation Day.

The teens took the firefighters a giant card which they all signed, and five baskets filled with goodies. After they gave them the gifts, the firefighters gave everyone a tour around the station.

Pastor Joe Albert was also able to pray with these men. The teens took pictures with fire trucks and the firefighters. This was such a great event.

God is really moving for us. Continue to pray for as we continue the construction of our building.
