McAllen Opens a 59,000-Square-Foot Church Home

We are excited to announce that we moved into our new 59,000 sq. ft. building on September 29, 2019. For our first service, we were privileged to have Pastor Richard Rubi come and preach for us.

We had our grand opening ceremony on October 27, 2019 and had more than 700 people in attendance. To help us celebrate this great occasion, we invited the City Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Jim Darling and, of course, the residents of McAllen. It was amazing to see our big sanctuary filled with so many visitors.

In our service, we also had our very own McAllen Choir sing a powerful song, and then we had the honor to hear a few words from our mayor.

To end the year of 2019, we created a Toy Story play. On December 22, we were able to see more than 800 people in attendance, with 350 first time visitors. We had everyone’s favorite characters - Sheriff Woody, Buzz Lightyear, the Potato Heads, and more. Through this play, the characters learn the true meaning for the season, the birth of Christ. During the altar call, we had several people accept Jesus as their Savior.

On Christmas Eve, we were blessed to have an extraordinary program that was created by our Kids of the Kingdom ministry. The program began with our children’s church choir singing outstanding Christmas songs led by Isabel Gonzales. After that, we had our famous royal puppets minister a play and a song about the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ. We ended the night with a Despicable Me play featuring only children. It was great to see how God can use the younger generation to reach souls, as we had a few accept Christ into their hearts.

Coming into the year 2020, we held our annual New Year’s Bash. We were excited to have this event in our new fellowship hall. The night had delicious food and laughter as we watched our annual No Talent, Talent Show. To end the event, we reminisced about all the things that God had done in our church.

To kick off the New Year, we had our annual father and son camping trip on January 2 and 3. This was an excellent opportunity to make a positive impact in the lives of our sons. They put up tents and started the BBQ pits that Friday afternoon. Some of the greatest highlights included the experiences of learning about how Jesus Christ sacrificed himself for others and how to prepare a goat and pig for food.

Another major highlight was how men shared their testimonies with their sons. These retreats are meant to set aside some time, so both father and son can come together and establish a stronger relationship with one another and Jesus Christ.

We continue to hit the streets with outreaches and street preaching to win souls for Christ. We held our first concert of the year on January 11. Our RGV Productions ministries continue to gain momentum through God’s amazing grace.

Recently, our teenagers started having youth nights on Fridays. Since this has begun, they have seen new young people come in and decide to receive Christ. As a result, they have had doors open to go into schools and have our youth leader, Pastor Joe-Albert Hernandez, preach the Gospel.

As the year continues, we are excited to see what God has in store for us. Continue to pray for us here in McAllen, Texas.
