Music Opens a Door for the Gospel in Prescott — Summer 2005

We began the month of April with our Extreme Impact youth rally. We had Pastor Bob Overson come in and shake up the 300-plus young people assembled from around the southwest on a Saturday morning, and then sent the kids outreaching our communities. We met that night at the old church on Ruth St. for a concert that nearly brought the house down! When it was all said and done, 60 people had been saved in that one day!

Pastor Overson followed up with a powerful and stirring revival and the church was encouraged and strengthened.

The next week we tried a new outreach: The Family Summer Festival. We took over the downtown plaza with a bluegrass band, puppets, children’s skits, and magic tricks on the center stage. Surrounding the area, we set up booths with Face Painting, Games, Sack Races, balloon animals, Quick Draw artists, and anything else you can imagine! We repeated the show every half hour and nearly 1,000 visitors came through that Saturday! We saw 31 souls saved!

In May, we revived a play done previously called The Dream. A powerful visual presentation of the Gospel message, we performed it three nights in the Ruth St. building, and on Memorial Day in the courthouse square. In all, more than 20 people were saved through this ministry.

At the end of May, we repeated our Family Festival, this time in Prescott Valley at one of the central parks. This time we saw even more people come out, because of the holiday weekend and the little league baseball games going on in the adjacent parks. We saw 40 people saved, and several families in the services the next day!

The next week we held our ‘Battle of The Bands’. We rented out the Elks Opera House, a historic downtown theater, and had the band ‘Sodium Chloride’ from Las Vegas come play, along with our own bands, drama, and video. We had more than 100 visitors and 20 people saved that night. And to think, we were doing the same thing we do in our music scene every week, just a block down the road!

We are fishers of men, and we keep changing the bait, and it’s working! The spirit of revival and the fruits of it are evident here in Prescott. We are seeing expanded fruitfulness and blessing in all areas of our ministry.
