Music Opens a Door for the Gospel in El Paso — Fall 2019

We are seeing a great measure of God’s favor in our congregation. As many know we recently suffered a shooting that made national news. While this has been a very traumatic time for the residence of El Paso we were able to be there for many of the surviving victims and victims families.

Our visitation Pastor Ernie Lopez quickly mobilized and went to the local hospitals where they were treating people and through God’s favor was able to get in where the families were to minister and pray for them. He has been able to be there for them in their time of great stress and trauma. He is still visiting them and reaching out to them and it has been a great help for those that have suffered much through this event. Please keep praying for all those affected.

The day that the shooting happened we had scheduled a play in a downtown park. We decided against doing the play as certain things in the drama would have been deemed insensitive in light of what happened.

A group of men and women from the church went to that park and did a concert and passed out hot dogs instead and by the end of the night they had prayed with 18 people for salvation. We rescheduled the play for two weeks later and God poured out his spirit as we saw 60 visitors and 30 pray for salvation.

Aside from this we have had a great year going back to our Conference in March. In the Conference there were a total of nine international works announced. Four of those were directly out of the El Paso congregation.

We kicked off our summer with our annual Cinco de Mayo outreach. We incorporated a car show this year and by the end of the night we had 30 people pray for salvation.

We have had a very productive summer with outreaches in the park featuring our play Shattered and our four 3-on-3 basketball tournaments which is one of the most fruitful events we do all year.

The final tournament had 34 teams and many first time visitors with 20 praying for salvation.

The result of all of this has been a numerical growth in the El Paso congregation. We have seen a steady jump of about 50 people in our church and so many new converts it is hard to keep track.

We are so grateful for the opportunity we have to preach the Gospel in our city and have expression in world evangelism. We believe we are in the last of the last days and we are pressing the battle to the gates of the enemy with all of our might.

We are contending for signs and wonders that follow the preaching of the Gospel and radical conversions of sinners. God is faithful as we preach and evangelize. We are truly excited about the coming months and into the year 2020.
