A New Church Home Opens in Union City — Winter 2013

As the church prayed for a building and our pastor searched, one finally came up We knew it was God when we gained favor with the realtor and the owner. In April we started the legalities of acquiring our building. With the paperwork being processed we held our services in the park from June through August and had an awesome time. Understanding that “church” is the body of believers, being without a church building did not stop us from doing God’s will. With our regular services held at the park, we had two baby dedications, a wedding/renewal of vows, a healing crusade and a youth rally. Regularly, after services, we outreached to those around the park. After a couple of months of “living in the wilderness” and much prayer as God carried us through, we have our new building. With much to be thankful for, we know that this is another beginning for all God wants to do in Union City.

‘With Hurricane Sandy hittin this area, our faith was teste and strengthened during thi time.’ - Union City, New Jersey building. Also with that, we are not letting the other go undone as we continue with our local and out of town outreaches and preparations for our Christmas play and New Year’s fellowship. The church is excited to be a part of all God is doing.

As the weather warmed up, we took advantage and brought the gospel to the people…at the park. We passed out flyers advertising a Youth Rally/Healing Crusade and invited families to come enjoy free face painting, music, cotton candy and snow cones.

We were blessed to have the churches from Roselle Park, Tenton and Rhode Island to co-labor with us. That day eight souls received Jesus Christ and after praying for the sick, we had two notable healings. One of these souls that was healed made it out to our church service in the park the next day. Everyone rejoiced as God’s message went out this day.

During this summer we also had our Annual Memorial Day Fellowship/Baptism picnic. This year we partnered with the church from Trenton at a local park. Along with the Trenton church we had 10 souls who were baptized.

With Hurricane Sandy hitting this area, our faith was tested and strengthened during this time. With our church out of power for a week and some for more than a week, the congregation pulled together to see needs met and inconveniences made easier to handle.

Realizing still how blessed we are as areas within miles from us had it much worse, a couple from our congregation collected donations of clothes and brought them to Staten Island, New York, where people were left without a home, clothes and undergarments and some still with no electricity. With flooding in the area, no power because of down lines and trees, long gas lines and rationing in this state of emergency pastor took necessary safety precautions. However, through email and texts our pastor kept us encouraged that God is in control and in these last days we must rejoice in our salvation and keep busy with God’s great commission.

To celebrate Thanksgiving we had our annual Thanksgiving Fellowship after our Wednesday night service. This was our first church Fellowship in our new building. Everyone brought a dish and as always we had plenty of food. There was a joy and an excitement within the church that night that with Thanksgiving being the next day, no one wanted to leave.
