The Door Church in Corpus Christi, we were able to have a Faith Rally for our area churches this year in March 2021, followed by a revival with Pastor Carnegie.
Visitors attended and answered altar calls. It was also the spark of a flame for this congregation.
Next seven of our teens went to Boot Camp and were able to connect with other teens, face personal problems and fears, and begin to give their lives to God.
In June our mother church from San Antonio came to perform the Judgment play. We had visitors that answered the altar call and received prayer.
Eleven of us were able to attend Prescott Bible Conference. It caused that initial spark to ignite into a flame and stir up the Holy Spirit! From Conference straight to revival with Evangelist Juan Uribe, people were healed and given encouragement to do more.
We street preach every Friday and numerous people pull over and pray with us. Recently we prayed for a woman and she got delivered from drugs and filled with the Holy Spirit!
We have so many plans for future events to reach souls. We are staying encouraged and our faith is strong. We are stirred up and willing to do more to serve God, to bring in souls, and preach the Gospel and get people saved in Jesus name.
At the age of 13, I ran away from home to escape all the things that were going on in our home - stepdad sexually and physically abusing my sisters and I, while mom was stuck in the restroom smoking crack cocaine. I was staying from house-tohouse, stealing my next set of clothes and food for the next day.
My mom and stepdad were caught with enough drugs to send them away to prison for a good while. I was relieved knowing that he was no longer abusing my sisters, mom was finally going to get some help and best of all I could be reunited with my sisters.
We were placed in an amazing foster home with great foster parents, who showed us a bunch of love. At the age of 16 we went back to live with my grandmother and the abuse continued there.
I started acting out, fighting in school, not going home, staying the night with a boy. I got pregnant with my first child. I was scared and confused. I called my foster parents and they took me back in and helped me raise my daughter while I attended school. I stayed with them this time until I aged out of care at the age of 18. Then I went to live with the father of my kids.
I had all three of my kids before the age of 21. After giving birth to my youngest the father went to prison, and I didn’t know what to do. I got lost in popping pills, drinking, clubbing, and got involved in an all-girls gang. I did a lot of illegal activities, and I was going in and out of the county jail. CPS ended up taking my kids and placing them a foster home.
I saw a cycle of what I went through with my mom. I knew I wanted a different life for my children. I fought to get them back but also knew I didn’t want to raise them with another man. I was afraid for what happen to me as a child to happen to them.
I met a woman and raised my kids with her for nine years. Although she was an alcoholic, I felt like they were safe from the kind of abuse I experienced as a child. My kids were happy, and I was miserable. I started smoking weed and locking myself in my bedroom so that my kids wouldn’t see it. Again, a cycle of what my childhood was like. I finally ended that relationship, and became a single mom. It was tough. I felt like I had no energy to fight. I was allowing my kids to smoke so they wouldn’t be in my hair, so I could battle what I was going through. My oldest started drinking. I then began to go clubbing again and drinking just to run away from the things that were going on at home.
Everyone around me thought I had it all together but deep down I felt like I was dying inside. At this point I was losing control of everything. I started attending “The Door Church” about eight months ago, and in the beginning I used to think I could attend church and still live the same lifestyle and things would get better.
I would leave service and go straight to the bar afterward, and I was still in a relationship with a woman. I was wrong! I knew I wanted change, so I dropped to my knees and begged God to help me, to forgive me and to guide me, that I would give up everything. I finally surrendered, repented and gave my life to Jesus. I have never looked back.
Since that moment forward, I gave up women, drugs, and alcohol. Now I attend church with my children. I have different battles, but I thank God those aren’t my battles anymore. He has given me the strength to deal with the things that go on at home and not run away from them. The abuse as a child no longer haunts me and one day when God is ready, I do want to marry a man who lives for God. I thank God for my salvation!
